Privacy Policy

This policy explains what the Top Pick Topic app collects, why, who can see it, and how to delete it. Top Pick Topic is for adults 18 and over. Questions: support@toppicktopic.com.

What we collect

• Your account: email address, password (stored scrambled by our sign-in provider; we never see it), first and last name, date of birth (to confirm you’re 18 or older), username, and when you accepted the Terms of Use.
• Your profile picture, if you add one.
• What you post: topics, comments, reports you send and members you block.
• What you do in the app: your likes and dislikes, when you post (for the 2-topics-a-day limit), and messages to you such as “Your topic made the top 10”.
• Your phone’s notification address, only if you turn on notifications, so we can tell you when your topic unlocks.
• Kept on your phone only: your Light or Dark choice, and when you last opened the Unlocked tab.

We don’t collect your location, contacts or advertising ID. There are no ads and no tracking tools in the app.

Who can see what

• Other members see your username, profile picture, the month you joined, your comments, and your topics once they unlock. While a topic is being voted on, who suggested it is hidden.
• Nobody else sees your real name, date of birth, email address or how you voted.
• Moderators see reports and the content reported, so they can act on them within 24 hours.

Why we use it

• To run the app: your account, topics, voting, the daily round and comments.
• To keep it safe and fair: checking you’re 18 or older, limits on posting and voting, and handling reports.
• To send you account emails (confirming your email, resetting your password) and, if you turn them on, notifications.

Services that handle your information for us

• Supabase: stores the app’s database and pictures and handles sign-in.
• Resend: sends account emails.
• Expo and Google Firebase Cloud Messaging: deliver phone notifications, if you turn them on.
• Google Play: distributes the app.

These services only use your information to provide their service to us. We never sell your information or share it for advertising.

How long we keep it

We keep your information while you have an account. When you delete your account, we delete it straight away, as described on our account deletion page. Our email provider keeps short delivery records for up to 30 days.

Your choices and rights

• Change your username, picture, appearance and notifications in the app at any time.
• Delete your account in the app (Profile, then Delete account) or by email.
• Ask for a copy of your information, or ask us to correct it, by emailing support@toppicktopic.com.
• Depending on where you live, you may have further rights, for example under Jamaica’s Data Protection Act, 2020, or the EU’s GDPR, including the right to complain to your data protection authority.

Adults only

Top Pick Topic is not for anyone under 18. If we learn that someone under 18 has an account, we delete it. Members can report someone they think is under 18 from inside the app. Read our Child Safety Standards.

Security

Information travels over encrypted connections, and the database only lets each member see what they’re allowed to. No system is perfect, so please use a password you don’t use anywhere else.

Changes to this policy

If we make important changes, we’ll update the date above and tell you in the app.
